Anyway was doing some reading just now and I came across this interesting article written by Laura Ng. Hope its informative!

Ever seen vegetarians running problem with weight loss? Are you one of them?

It’s no surprise nowadays seeing vegetarians becoming as fat as meat-eaters. You can see them carrying a big fat belly in their mid-section while they walk down the street, watch them grossly wolfing down colorful sugary ice-cream at Swensen, crushing down cheesy vegetarian pizza at Pizza Hut and so forth. They also develop diseases such as colon cancer, cardiovascular disease and raise their risk to high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke.

Vegetarians are supposed to be slimmer and healthier, aren’t they? Thanks to the modern processed vegetarian diet which has caused weight loss to become near impossible for vegetarians.

Truth is, a healthy vegetarian weight loss diet comes from your home. If you get the raw ingredients from outside and prepare the food yourself, you’ll eat very much lesser processed stuff. And your health will improve. Your size will shrink. Your skin will become smoother and bouncier. You’ll look younger and more vibrant.

More importantly, you’ll lose weight and become a real slim vegetarian in good health. That’s what you can do to help yourself. Otherwise, it’s simply pointless to eat vegetarian yet ended up exposing yourself to as much health risks as meat-eater.

Your intention to go vegetarian could stem from your heart to save the world, minimize global warming impact and promote eco-friendliness. Of course, you’d also wish to convert your friends, family and others to be like you – eating vegetarian diet. But studies show that fat people project negative image.

So when you cannot lose weight as a vegetarian and display such negative presence, how on earth are you going to positively influence others to follow suit?

I learn from a friend this – “Either you do your best, or you don’t do at all”. In this context, it means – if you want to become a vegetarian, do your best to be the slimmest and healthiest vegetarian on earth.

Don’t say “I want to go vegetarian and make the world a better place” but yet on the other hand you’re scoffing unhealthy processed food that turn you into a fat green monster who could die of some gross diseases that normally only occur to meat-eaters.

So, my friend, I do care for you, your shape, and your health. I also want to make this a better world. So, let’s eat a healthy vegetarian weight loss diet and be the slimmest vegetarians on earth that will make all meat-eaters feel jealous of our excellent health and attractive shape. Remember, we always have a choice.

A moment ago I was not able to login into the blogsplutter wordpress admin page, turns out i accidentally deleted some files in my wordpress directory. But well everything is back to normal now, after i updated my wordpress to 3.0(:

Many people, including myself, believed that canned food is bad. How can something that can be preserved for a few years, cooked in a factory, stored in a steel can, and produced in bulk be healthy?! This was until I learnt about the actual processing and production of canned foods. Now, I would like to debunk the myths that canned food is unhealthy.

The biggest myth regarding canned food would be the preservation process and the artificial preservatives that are allegedly used to prepare canned food. This is due to our common and misguided perception that any food produce that can be stored for long periods of time would be done through artificial and unhealthy methods. However, if you thought that way, you are COMPLETELY wrong. Canned food is stored using natural methods, containing no artificial ingredients or preservatives. The process used in canning the food eradicates the presence of bacteria and enzymes which may trigger processes that make the food go bad. Preservation of canned food is entirely natural.

Many people would also believe canned food to contain scarce and minimal nutrients having been subjected to factory-controlled processes. That is COMPLETELY untrue. Canned food, regardless of whether it is poultry, beef, seafood, vegetables, legumes, or fruits, deliver you the complete set of nutrients as you would if you prepared the food on your own. They are often selected and packed at the peak of their freshness and modern processing methods is used to store the nutrients in and keep the bacteria out.

Contrary to common belief, canned food also does not require cooking after having been opened. Canned food is usually thoroughly cooked and sterilized with high-tech methods to ensure it’s safety in consumption. Only warming the food is required.

What I’ve said should have orientated you to canned food properly. Remember that healthy eating can involve canned food as a cheap and convenient alternative.

Some tips when consuming canned food would be—

If cans are dented and look to have been damaged, do not purchase or consume.

Always check the expiry date of the canned food.

Storage of canned food should be in a cool dry place.

Check the serving sizes of the canned food. Looks can be deceiving.

Last but not least, cans are environmentally friendly, please dispose of them through correct avenues such as recycling bins. (:

I think this is pretty useful, please take some time have a read.

There are few things more important in everyday food preparation then proper hygiene. Without the seemingly simple washing of hands and tools disease would spread rampantly throughout society. This was not always known though and in some places is still not taken as seriously as it should be. For this reason the government has made mandatory health codes and random health checks the norm.

To be a professional food handler you must know, understand, and implement proper food hygiene techniques. Knowing them alone is not enough though, for many areas you will need to take classes and be properly certified in order to prepare food professionally. This may mean that each employee needs to be certified or it may mean that the restaurant needs proper certification, it really depends on the given area.

To make sure that you have all of the proper courses and certifications you will most likely need to call your local health board. Do not be afraid to “wake a sleeping giant” of sorts, they get these calls every day and will not be influenced into inspecting your establishment because of it. More likely, they will be on much better terms with you over the long run, knowing that you are trying to do the correct thing.

To get your food hygiene certification, one must take a series of classes or at the least a course. This can usually be done at a local college, night school,or online. When choosing these classes, be sure that the proper topics will be covered and that they will meet all of your needs. The rules can vary from county to county in some cases and everyone should understand what needs to be taught.

Hi Guys I managed to dug out another list of tips i recorded down a number of years ago, hope it helps!

1. There`s no need to fry french toast in oil or butter. Just pop it into a hot oven for ten minutes, turning once. Surely we are talking about healthy eating(:

2. Try using minced turkey instead of beef in mince dishes like chilli or spaghetti bolognaise. It has less fat and calories and you can always”beef” up the flavour using a beef stock cube.

3. Raw spaghetti makes an excellent firelighter.
